Tanzania Projects

As of October 2024, 104 Reneal computer labs have been installed in ten regions in Tanzania!

Reneal IEO work in Tanzania began in 2010, with 2013 being the start of Reneal's involvement with the Arusha District Council. See the 2013 Tanzania plan here.  Computers for these projects were obtained via donations from individuals as well as a purchase of used computers from the World Computer Exchange.  Reneal IEO traveled to Tanzania in August of 2013 to complete this work.  IT labs were installed at Mukulat and Mlangarini Secondary Schools in Arusha District.  A blog post summarizing the work is shown here.  It was exciting and fulfilling time!  Part of the effort in 2013 was visiting and evaluating several schools for 2014 projects.  Down-select was done in January 2014, and the plan is here

Reneal IEO traveled to Tanzania in September of 2014 to install the low cost computer system in two new schools in Arusha District: Mwandet Scondary School and Ilkiding'a Secondary School.  A blog post summarizing the work is shown here.  During the 2014 visit, several schools were evaluated for 2015 projects.  Four schools were selected for implementation.  The 2015 project plan is here.

Reneal IEO returned to Tanzania in October of 2015 to install the Reneal system in four new schools in Arusha District: Mringa Secondary School, Ilboru Secondary School, Enyoito Secondary School, and Oldadai Secondary School.  A blog post summarizing the work is here.

Reneal IEO was thrilled to return to Tanzania again in 2017.  Reneal systems were installed in two new schools in Arusha District: Mateves Secondary School and Nduruma Secondary School.   Reneal also supported The School Fund (TSF) in installing computer labs in two schools in Iringa.  Check out the blog post here for a summary.

Reneal's 2018 projects in Tanzania focused on Arusha District.  Reneal computer labs were installed in four new schools: Kiranyi Secondary School, Kimnyaki Secondary School, Sokon II Secondary School, and Oldonyosambu Secondary School.  We also did significant upgrades at our 2013 schools, Mlangarini Secondary School and Mukulat Secondary School.  The servers at the existing ten computer labs in Arusha District received updated software as well.

In early 2019, Reneal computer systems were installed at Osiligi Secondary School and Olmotonyi Secondary School.  Later in 2019, Reneal installed new computer labs in four additional schools in Arusha District (Bangata Secondary School, Einoti Secondary School, Olokii Secondary School, and Olturmet Secondary School) as well as making significant upgrades at two existing schools.

In early 2020, Mlangarini, Mateves, and Enyoito Secondary Schools received high-performance MacBooks to replace their existing computer labs.  Small MacBook labs were also added at Mlangarini and Mwandet Secondary Schools for the exclusive use of the A-Level students.  In addition, computer labs were installed in two new schools in Arusha District (Ngiresi Secondary School and Sambasha Secondary School).  In late 2020, a small computer lab was installed at Arusha Girls' School in Arusha City as well as six computer labs in Longido District.

In 2021 Apto Solutions Incorporated, a US IT asset management company, generously donated laptops and other equipment to significantly expand Reneal's reach in Tanzania.  In Phase 1, four schools in Arusha City (Suye, Elerai, Kinana, and Kimaseki) received new computer labs, and the existing labs at Einoti, Kiranyi, Kimnyaki, Mwandet, and Mringa were expanded.  In Phase 2, Reneal installed computer labs at six schools in Handeni Town and District, plus three schools in Meru District, one school in Arusha District, and one school in Arusha City.

In 2022 another 17 computer labs were installed, thanks to the continued generosity of Apto Solutions.  Reneal expanded its support to Kondoa District in Dodoma Region (two schools), Babati Town Council in Manyara Region (six schools), Monduli District in Arusha Region (two schools), as well as continuing work in Arusha Region (seven schools in Arusha City Council, Meru District, and Arusha District).

In 2023 and 2024, Apto Solutions supported Reneal again, resulting in new computer labs in 41 addtional schools.  Reneal has now extended its support to Lindi, Mtwara, Mara, Kilimanjaro, Iringa, and Pwani Regions.
