Reneal Team Philippines: Meet Lloyd Tuñacao! [2016-10-29]

Reneal Team Philippines has been blessed to have many wonderful supporters over the years.  Our newest members come to us through long-time Reneal intern Jade Reyes, now a high school computer teacher at Arcelo Memorial National High School.  Jade also taught part-time for a while at Cebu Technological University in Danao City.  Two of his students at CTU, Rhog Sampan and Lloyd Tuñacao, are doing their on-the-job training in their final year of college with Sir Jade at Arcelo.  Part of their responsibility is supporting the Reneal projects in Cebu.  It’s been a delight to work side-by-side with these two young men, and we’ll be featuring each of them in a blog article.  Last week we featured Rhog.  Now it’s time to meet Lloyd!

I am Lloyd June Tuñacao.  I’m 20 years old and graduating with a BACHELOR OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.  When I was a kid, I really loved playing computer games every day at our neighbor’s computer shop.  My dad was very strict at me that time because I'm not studying and keep on playing computer games, so my dad divided my day so that during morning I can play computer games but at the evening I'll study.  So I stuck to that routine until I graduated to elementary.

When I was in high school my father chose LILO-AN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL because it's close to our place. Technology is growing as well as computer games like FPS games so my friends told me that the new game is very great so I go with them after lunch and go back at school 1pm sharp because classes will resume at 1pm.  So it's like every day we keep doing that until my dad found out that I'm always playing computer games.  So what he did, he grounded me and strictly no computer games.  But the only reason that I'm playing games is to cover up my depression because when I was 9 years old my mother left us and disappeared like a bubble that popped up in thin air.  She disappeared without saying anything, goodbye's, nothing, no one knows where she is until now.

It was very painful for me growing up without a mother but I diverted my mind set and discover things that even I was surprised.  I started making some friends and got involved into a dance group.  Our MAPEH teacher gave us a video that he would like us to present titled "GREASED LIGHTNING" and present it to the campus.  They were very surprised by our presentation because it's way better than the video.  We were very happy that day with my group, we got a high grade.  Because of that, people at the dance club wanted us to be part of their group so we united as one and every time there was an occasion in school we are the most waited group to present.  Since that day I've developed skills and talents like dancing, beatboxing, drawing, playing piano and so many other stuff just to cover up my depression for the loss of my mother and make that as an inspiration that life is colorful, you just need to discover.

When my tito [uncle] put a computer shop at our place, I was very happy because I can search and surf the internet, but one day the computers were broken so my uncle called a technician to fix it so the technician arrived.  When he's fixing those units I got my eyes on him and watched what he's doing on how to fix it.  He was amused by me so every time he touches a computer part he explained what's the use of it so I got an idea on how to fix and what's inside in a computer.

Days passed until I reached 3rd year high school.  My third year days were different, I stopped playing computer games and focused on my studies and my hobbies.  At that time we had a subject called IT, it was our TLE [Technology and Livelihood Education] subject.  Sir ISIDRO ICOT was my teacher.  Sir Icot opened my eyes that the computer is not just for gaming, it’s also a big help in a daily life for workers and for students too.  I was amazed and more inspired about computers, so I learned many things from Sir Icot about software like Adobe Photoshop.  Sir Icot was my teacher and at the same time a friend, he is very friendly and easy to approach. Until I graduated in high school I continued my learning and proceeded to COLLEGE and took BACHELOR OF SCIENCE INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY in CTU DANAO with a major in DRAFTING.  My dad chose that school because CTU is full with hands-on so he wasn't mistaken.  College days were very painful yet full of learning.  I chose drafting that day because I want to learn more about drawing.

My dad supported me until the end of the 1st semester but suddenly my dad wanted to go abroad in order to support us in our needs and especially our studies, but he had no money for the ticket for his flight.  So I told him that I'll stop in 2nd semester and use the money for my tuition fee for his ticket because he is hired already but needs to go to ABU DHABI first.  So I stopped and he used the money in order to take his flight to Abu Dhabi. Those days I was very bored and had nothing to do because I stopped my studies.  My other tito has a vulcanizing shop [to repair tires] so one day he taught me and I started to get used to it.  I was satisfied that day that I will not continue my studies and told my dad that I won't go to school next year because I was satisfied by that, but my dad insisted that I'm very young and have a better future than that so he told me that he will support my studies again next year because he was successful in Abu Dhabi.  Things went really well and he said that I'll continue my studies.  I was confused about resuming my drafting major or starting another course, but at the end of the year I decided to enroll in COMPUTER major.

First year college was very easy for me because I'm familiar with the lectures, it was about Microsoft Office and Typing Master.   I’m familiar with the lectures because it’s the same lectures Sir Icot taught and I typed faster than my classmates because the computer gaming thing when I was a kid really paid off.  So 1st year was an easy year for me but in 2nd year college Sir JADE REYES was our teacher, he taught us about hardware and networking.  I was more inspired about new learning, so I was really attentive to sir JADE's lectures plus back when I was in high school when the technician of my tito's computer shop and I had a pep talk about computer parts, so I had an idea of sir JADE's lecture.  When the semester almost ends, Sir JADE include in his lecture about NETWORKING "making cables". Today I realize how important Sir JADE'S lecture was, that was our foundation as a computer technician and is a big help especially today in my OJT in RENEAL INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION OUTREACH.  Sir JADE taught us what he experienced and I'm very thankful that Sir JADE and Sir ICOT were my teachers because without them I could not reach what knowledge I have today and especially I couldn't meet Mam Rene and Sir Neal, the founders of RENEAL INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION OUTREACH that is very kind and generous.

My future plan is that I can build my own business and make it grow and make my family proud of me, that I can be a successful man.

Thank you all especially for my father that won't stop supporting us despite that my mother left us.  He doesn't stop supporting us, and I'm really thankful for that and I'm thankful to GOD that even though I have incomplete parents but I still have a family to love.  That's all and thank you so much.
