Reneal Team Philippines [2018-07-23]

Hats off to Reneal Team Philippines this month!  Under the leadership of Sir Jade Reyes, Reneal computer technicians Rhog Sampan and Lloyd Tuñacao and OJT Ervin Formentera have really been working hard to support both existing and new schools.  We are so grateful for their commitment and skill!  Last week they installed a new computer lab at Calero Integrated School in Liloan, and this week they are in Northern Cebu installing a new computer system in the Daanbantayan National High School library.  They have also been visiting many other schools to make repairs and replace hardware that isn’t working.

We are very excited about the new installation at Calero IS.  They are located away from the National Road a few kilometers.  Such schools are often passed by when it comes to donations and support, so we were very pleased to make their acquaintance earlier this year and make a site evaluation visit.  Through the generosity of Free Geek (for the monitors) and World Computer Exchange (for low-cost desktops), we were able to provide 15 computers to Calero along with the server, network switch, and other items.

This was the first installation that our young team did without us present.  Rhog, Lloyd, and Ervin had to spec out the needed items, get estimates, purchase the equipment, figure out the lab layout, and then actually do the installation.  Under Sir Jade’s capable guidance, the work was completed and they did a great job.  Sir Jade paid a visit to Calero to show the teachers the system, and he’ll return for teacher orientation training.  Neal and I will of course be there in early 2019 to do further orientation, but we are so grateful that the school will have the use of the system now instead of having to wait until our arrival in January.

This week Rhog, Lloyd, and Ervin are in Northern Cebu.  There is a lot of work to be done, from installing a system in the library at Daanbantayan National High School, to rewiring some rat-chewed cables at Calape National High School, to moving units at Kawit National High School from a lab to the library.  We miss being there to work side-by-side with them, but what a wonderful feeling to know that they have the knowledge and skill to work independently.  THANKS Reneal Team Philippines!
