Phase 3 action [2022-03-27]

Thanks to the efforts of Reneal Team Tanzania, all Reneal schools have received a beginning-of-the-new-school-year visit.  During these visits, the Team makes sure the server is working properly and checks out all of the client computers.  It our chance to make sure each lab is running at full strength for the students at each school.  We have a list of action items for follow-up, but it feels great to know what needs to be done.  Now that these visits are behind us, the Team is back to work on the Phase 3 installations!

Thanks to a generous donation of hardware from Apto Solutions (www.aptosolutions.com), Phase 3 will result in new computer labs at seven public secondary schools in Tanzania.  The first, at Amani Abeid Karume Secondary School in Kondoa District, was completed in January.  While the Team was doing the schools visits, Reneal Country Director David Nyangaka has been working with the remaining six schools to prepare their computer rooms.  It was great to see the next two Phase 3 schools completed this week!  Tuesday’s installation at Lengijave Secondary School continues Reneal’s long history of work in Arusha District.  Friday the Team traveled to Engutoto Secondary School in Monduli District.  It is Reneal’s first installation in Monduli District, and Reneal now has labs in five Arusha districts.  We were happy to have the help of our long-time partners Habari Node and Arusha Node Marie in these installations.  In 2014, Reneal signed a collaboration agreement with these two entities and the partnership continues to be strong.

The Team will continue with Phase 3 installations as the schools finalize their computer room preparations.  In addition, the Team is working the action items from the school visits.  A major server software update is in testing right now at one of the schools, and we expect to begin deploying that update to all other schools in the next month or so.  And meanwhile evaluations continue for the next round of candidate schools for 2022 Phase 1, expected to begin in the third quarter.  We are so grateful for Reneal Team Tanzania for supporting the existing schools and bringing computers to new schools!
