Phase 2 Update [2021-08-06]

In the last post, Reneal Team Tanzania was on the brink of departing for Handeni District in Tanga Region to begin the installation of the equipment generously donated by Apto Solutions.  There was a slight delay in order for some of the schools to complete their computer room preparations, but the Team finally headed to Handeni last Saturday.  I am thrilled to report that after six days of extremely hard work, there are now six schools in Handeni District with new computer labs!  Congrats to Handeni District Council officials, School Heads, and Reneal Team Tanzania for this amazing progress!

This is Reneal’s first time working in Tanga Region, so it’s posed some additional challenges for us.  Reneal Country Director David Nyangaka worked tirelessly to arrange the logistics and to assist the schools as they prepared a room for the computer lab.  Reneal had fantastic cooperation from the School Heads, and Handeni officials have been very supportive throughout the process.  Thus when the Team arrived, everything was ready for them to being the installation and training at each school.

Having said that, we were still amazed to wake up each morning this week with news of yet another completed computer lab!  Each school’s computer lab has 20 laptops, provided by Apto Solutions, as well as a Reneal server packed with educational content.  The Team went from bare tables to a completed lab in about half a day, with the remainder of the day dedicated to teacher orientation and specialized training for the computer teachers at the school.

We welcome these six new schools to the Reneal family, and wish the students and teachers many great hours of hands-on computer education!
