Phase 2 Kicks Off! [2021-07-14]

Reneal Team Tanzania has continued to work miracles, installing the equipment donated by Apto Solutions in support of the 2021 Phase 1 projects.  Four new computer labs were installed in May.  Then during June, the Team expanded four very active existing Reneal labs in Arusha District.  Anywhere from 10-17 units were added at each of these labs, giving more seats for student use.  There is one more school remaining in this expansion effort, but it should be completed by early August.  And now the Team is embarking on Phase 2!

The Phase 2 equipment arrived in Tanzania on July 7th and was released to Reneal Country Director David Nyangaka on July 10th.  Thanks to the generosity of Apto Solutions, eleven public secondary schools will be receiving computer labs as a part of Phase 2.  It is especially exciting because we will be expanding into new areas for Reneal.  Six schools in Handeni District in the Region of Tanga (in northeastern Tanzania) have been selected for deployment, as well as four schools in Meru District in Arusha Region.  The final new school will be in Arusha City.

Reneal’s Team, supported by our long-time partner Habari Node, is planning to travel to Handeni next week to begin the installation and training work at the six new schools there.  Each school will receive a computer lab with 20 laptops each from Apto Solutions.  Reneal will be reaching over 5,500 high school students in Handeni with these labs, giving these students their first access to hands-on computer use.

Reneal Country Director David Nyangaka has also been working to help prepare the 11 Reneal scholars.  Half of them are returning for their second term, and the other half are beginning the new school year.  It’s definitely been a busy month for the entire Team, and we are so excited to see what the rest of July brings!
