Phase 1 underway! [2021-05-03]

The long-awaited moment arrived today – installation of the computer equipment generously donated by Apto Solutions has begun!  Reneal Team Tanzania and our partners from Habari Node and Arusha Node Marie were at Kimaseki Secondary School, and in just a few short hours they turned an empty room into a new computer lab.    Reneal was thrilled to be greeted by parents, community members, and teachers who have worked hard to prepare for this moment.  Installations of new computer labs at Elerai, Kinana, and Suye Secondary Schools will follow soon after computer teacher (SUPER USER) training and teacher orientation is completed at Kimaseki.

It’s hard to know where to begin in thanking Apto Solutions (www.aptosolutions.com).   CEO Jeff Jones and COO Tim Farrow have supported Reneal every step of the way, in every conceivable manner.  Randy Strickland got adapters to Reneal in record time.  Terri Jones helped navigate us through the shipping with the folks at Sky2C Freight Systems.  And there are many others unnamed who contributed to make this work possible.  Suffice it to say that we will always think of this batch as our “Apto Solutions Schools”, with extra-high expectations for student computer usage.

Seven years ago, Habari Node, Arusha Node Marie, the Arusha District Council Office, and Reneal signed a collaboration agreement that is still alive and well.  Reneal is extremely grateful to the professionals of Habari Node (www.habari.co.tz) and Arusha Node Marie (www.arushanodemarie.or.tz) for pro bono professional installation of new Reneal labs.  The labs are beautifully and efficiently wired by this Team working with Reneal.  Special thanks to Jane Langoi of Habari Node and Evance Kessey of ANM, who serve as Reneal’s liaisons.

Thanks also to Reneal Team Tanzania.  Technicians Robert Nyangaka and Erick Mneney have the challenging task of pulling together the gear for each lab and leading the installations, and they will do the training that ensures that each school knows how to use and maintain the computer lab.  We also thank Ashura Yusuph from the Arusha Regional Office for joining Reneal Team Tanzania in this effort.  And of course, a major THANK YOU to Reneal Country Director David Nyangaka who worked with the schools to prepare the computer rooms, coordinated receipt of the shipment with Tanzanian government officials, arranged transportation, and managed countless other logistical tasks.

A final note of gratitude must also go each of the new schools.  Resources are tight, and Reneal appreciates the sacrifices necessary to set up a classroom as a Reneal computer lab.  We welcome these schools to the Reneal family, and we look forward to working together with them to provide computer access to Tanzania students.
