Board meeting [2015-12-20]

The Reneal IEO Board of Directors (pictured here at our July meeting) met yesterday.  We recapped the 2015 Tanzania projects and discussed the 2016 Philippines projects ahead.  We are very pleased to end 2015 in good shape financially, well-positioned to embark on the coming year!

There was significant discussion on expansion of the 2016 Philippines plans.  The original project plan includes five new installations: Consolacion National High School (NHS) Day, Tabok NHS, Tipolo NHS, Mulao NHS, and Almacen Torrevillas NHS.  These installations will be done during the January through March timeframe, and our intern Jade has made a fantastic start on these schools already.  However it appears that Reneal will have the time and resources to add at least two more schools later in the year.  Thus part of our work early in 2016 will be identifying candidates for those additional installations.  The next Reneal board meeting is scheduled for March, and a key part of that meeting will be selecting those schools to add.

We also discussed the results of the 2015 Tanzania work, particularly the low usage levels at the 2013/2014 schools.  We will be putting into place some actions to help the schools identify goals for use and to follow up on their progress.  We are hopeful that these steps will help improve the return on investment for these systems.

At the end of the meeting, Neal gave a short demonstration of the L3PCV (low power, low cost, low volume) project that he is working on with Anil.  Not surprisingly, the board members were very impressed and excited about the possibilities of this system.  However it was noted that the system – in particular the USB monitor – will need to be ruggedized in some fashion to make it appropriate for use in a school setting.

The Reneal Finance Committee will be meeting in early January to review the financial records, and soon after that we’ll be releasing the 2015 Annual Report.  It has been a good year for Reneal!
